PPC Botswana celebrates the country’s finest builders

In a glamorous event held on Wednesday 25 August at the Gaborone International Convention Centre, PPC Botswana thanked ten of Botswana’s finest builders for their commitment to the construction industry. Part of PPC Botswana’s inaugural Botswana’s No.1 Builder competition, each of the ten finalists were selected by a panel of judges from a pool of over 3 000 entrants.

Switching from their overalls to their tuxedos, each finalist was honoured for their commitment and reflection of the PPC brand promise of: Strength, Reliability and Consistency. PPC’s Director - Lime Aggregates, Botswana and Zimbabwe, Harley Dent, who attended the awards congratulated each participant on their performance and urged them to “continue with their quest to ensure building excellence.”

The construction sector, which plays an important part in the Botswanan economy, employs 29,500 people, representing roughly 20 percent of the total employment in the private and parastatal sectors. It is because of the this  impact on so many people that PPC Botswana felt it important to recognise, through this competition, the companies that have exceeded customer expectations and at the same time been safety conscious in the execution of their building and construction projects.

PPC General Manager and competition judge, Werner de Beer, who was also present at the event, had this to say: “The winning buildings are projects of influence in Botswana.  They remind us that despite tough economic conditions, excellence and safety in construction are pivotal and achievable, given the right mix of skill and commitment.”

PPC remains committed to the building industry in Botswana and through these landmark events we hope to continue to raise the level of workmanship and safety on worksites across the nation.
