King of the Hill Reign up for Grabs
 

PPC Botswana (Pty) Ltd in conjunction with Gaborone Runners Club are once again organising the annual Botswana/Gaborone race event, the PPC King of the Hill Race. The race, attracting up to 300 runners from Botswana and neighbouring countries will be held on Sunday,27 May 2012 and is on its 14th consecutive year.

The PPC King of the Hill race will start at PPC Botswana's Head Office in the Gaborone West Industrial Site. Athletes will run a loop around PPC then proceed to, Game City main entrance, up PPC Kgale Quarry road, up the Kgale Hill, and return to PPC Botswana office - a total distance of 15 kilometres.

PPC Botswana sponsorship for this event amounts to P200 000.00, including cash prizes, medals, snacks and drinks, and the much coveted race T-shirts for all participants.

Cash prizes, totaling P27 000, will be awarded to the winners in all categories from junior participants up to veteran runners. The race is expected to attract athletes from across the border, including the course record holder, Luwis Masunda of Zimbabwe who set the record of 47 minutes 32 seconds in 2005, Ndabili Bashangile, Kaelo Mosalagae, Kabo Gabaseme and James John.  . The senior women's record stands at 57 minutes 8 seconds set in 2000 by Samukeliso Moyo, also of Zimbabwe.

Entry forms are available from PPC Cement’s Botswana Head Office in Gaborone West, Horizon Ogilvy offices and at Superfit gym at Molapo crossing. The entry fee is P40.00 per runner. Registration will close at 12 noon on Saturday 26th May. The late entry fee will be P50.00

PPC considers this event sponsorship to be part of its contribution to building a healthy nation through sports.
