Bheki Lindinkosi Sibiya

Chairman (Independent non-executive director)

Mr. Bheki Sibiya was appointed as an independent non-executive director to the board with effect from 10 November 2008. The board is also pleased to advise that Mr. Sibiya was elected Chairman of the board with effect from 17 November 2008.

The board believes that the qualifications and experience of Mr Sibiya will add significantly to the skills and expertise of the Board and enable him to guide the board and the company to great success in the future.


Paul Stuiver

Chief executive officer

An engineer by profession (BEng, University of Pretoria), Paul’s early career was spent in the steel industry. After joining PPC he spent 18 years in PPC’s lime, packaging and logistics divisions and was a member of the PPC board from 1995 to 2001. He joined Barloworld during 2001 as CEO of its logistics division where he was involved with international expansion and served on boards in South Africa, Spain, the UAE, the UK and the USA. Paul rejoined PPC as CEO during 2009.


Salim Abdul Kader

Managing director, cement division

Salim Abdul Kader was appointed to the PPC board in May 2005 as executive director responsible for organisational performance.

During 2007 he also assumed executive responsibility for transformation. He joined the PPC group in 2004 as organisational performance director in the cement division and was thereafter appointed an alternate director on the PPC board in November 2004.

Prior to joining PPC he was organisational effectiveness executive for the Tiger Brands group responsible for human resources development. Salim started his career with Tiger Food Brands in the technical and operations functions before moving into human resources.


Tryphosa Ramano

Chief financial officer

Tryphosa joined Team PPC on 1 August 2011, as both the Chief financial officer and the PPC board member. She has established an impressive track record in the financial profession. Her curriculum vitae boasts positions ranging from auditing, investment management and corporate finance to being the CFO of SAA from 2004 to 2006 and most recently the CFO of WIPHOLD.

Despite additional non-executive directorship roles Tryphosa finds time to pursue transformation in the financial services sector through her leadership of the African Woman Chartered Accountants (AWCA) society and the establishment of the Institute of Investment Excellence, which focuses on attracting and training candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds into the financial services industry.


Peter Esterhuysen

Executive director, business development and international expansion

Peter Esterhuysen was appointed to the PPC board in December 2003. He has prior experience in cement, having been a divisional director of the cement division of PPC from 1996 to 2001. He was group financial director in the Coatings division of Barloworld until rejoining PPC in 2003.

Prior to joining PPC in 1996, he held various executive directorship positions in a number of South African manufacturing and retailing companies, including major corporates. He has extensive experience in all aspects of manufacturing, corporate finance and taxation.


Sello Godfrey Helepi

Executive director, organisational performance and transformation

Sello joined Team PPC in 2007 as Group Corporate Social Transformation Manager and in 2008 was appointed to the position of Executive, Transformation. Over the past 2 years Sello pioneered the new face of social transformation for our business and its integration with our Kambuku objectives. Sello commenced his career with Gold Fields Limited as Human Resources Superintendent at their Kloof Mine. Over his 10 year career with Gold Fields he held many positions within Human Resources, Corporate Communications and was appointed Transformation Manager prior to joining PPC. Sello holds BEd (Hons) degrees from Avondale College and the University of Newcastle in Australia.


Zibusiso Janice Kganyago

Independent non-executive director

Zibusiso Kganyago was appointed to the PPC board in October 2007. She is executive director of property development at Tsogo Sun Gaming and has been involved with property development and construction management over the past 13 years.

She was the executive director responsible for the recently completed R370 million Montecasino lifestyle development. She qualified with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Natal and has a postgraduate qualification in property planning, development and management.

She has been doing a business development programme at the Wharton School of Business in Pennsylvania and an executive development programme at the University of Nevada, Reno.


Andre Jacobus Lamprecht

André Jacobus Lamprecht

Independent non-executive director

André Lamprecht was appointed to the PPC board in 1997. He practiced as an advocate of the High Court of South Africa before being invited to join the Barloworld group in 1981.

From 1983 he played a leading role in steering the group through a turbulent decade of political transition into a post-apartheid South Africa. He was appointed to the Barloworld board in 1993, assuming responsibility for the company's interests in Namibia and Botswana in addition to human resources, social investment and other responsibilities. From 2007 until June 2011, André was Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director at Freeworld Coating Ltd.

He has served on behalf of Barloworld on numerous public bodies and is a past chairman of Business South Africa, past president of the Afrikaanse Handelsinstituut and past chairman of its board of trustees, and chairman of the standing committee on corporate and public governance.

He is also a director of the National Business Initiative (NBI), trustee of the Business Trust and former business convenor of the Trade and Industry Chamber of the National Economic Development and Labour Advisory Council (Nedlac), a member of its executive council, a member of the BUSA and CHAMSA councils and a member of the retirement funds advisory committee of the minister of finance.

He is also a long-standing senior member of the standards committee of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).


Nomalizo Beryl Langa-Royds

Independent non-executive director

Ntombi Langa-Royds was appointed to the PPC board in October 2007. She owns Nthake Consulting, a human resources consulting firm specialising in human resources management and allied services.

She has 19 years experience in the human resources consulting environment, with previous positions such as director of human resources at Independent Newspapers Holdings Limited, the South African Broadcasting Corporation and Bevcan division of Nampak Limited.


Mangalani Peter Malungani

Non-executive director

Peter Malungani was appointed to the PPC board in February 2009, after being elected, together with Jerry Vilakazi, by the PPC consortium of strategic black partners to be their representatives on the board. He is founder and Executive Chairman of the PEU Group, one of the PPC black partners.

Peter is Chairman of Phumelela Gaming & Leisure and Super Group Limited and also serves on the Board of a number of Investec Limited Companies. Through his leadership of the PEU Group he has pioneered many construction and civil engineering projects in South Africa and brings with him years of industry-specific expertise.


Mangalani Peter Malungani

Bridgette Modise

Independent non-executive director

Bridgette Modise was appointed to the PPC board on 1 December 2010. Currently the managing director of Kutira Capital, an investment and advisory services company, she was previously a partner at KPMG in the risk and advisory services business unit.

A chartered accountant, Bridgette has more than 15 years auditing experience and is a member of the Association for Advancement of Black Accountants, the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and the African Women Chartered Accountants Forum.


Tim Dacre Aird Ross

Independent non-executive director

Tim Ross was appointed to the PPC board in July 2008. He recently retired from Deloitte & Touche where he served as the lead client service partner to many major South African clients, where he is chairman of both group risk and group audit and actuarial committees.

He is also a director of Liberty Group Limited and Eqstra Holdings Limited, where he chairs the audit committee.


Joe Shibambo

Joe Shibambo was appointed to the PPC board in May 2005. He has been involved in the construction industry since 1979, where he gained invaluable knowledge in building construction, construction management, property development and the implementation of BBBEE development programmes.

He is the managing director of Hlamalane Projects, a company established in 1995. Through his organisation, he helps historically disadvantaged individuals in the basic management principles of starting a business and the effective management thereof.

He was the first black residential township developer and independent contractor to build a shopping centre in Soweto.


Jerry Sikhulumi Vilakazi

Jerry Sikhulumi Vilakazi

Non-executive director

Jerry Vilakazi was appointed to the PPC board in February 2009, after being elected, together with Peter Malungani, by the PPC consortium of strategic black partners to be their representatives on the board. He is a key shareholder in one of the PPC black partners, the Capital Edge Cement Consortium.

Jerry is CEO of Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) and also serves as non-executive chairman of Netcare Ltd. He brings with him many years of experience in his previous roles with the Black Management Forum (BMF) and as past Executive Director of the SA Institute of Chartered Accountants.
