In its celebration of creativity and lifestyle, PPC Cement announced the winner of its Creative Cement Competition for this year. Alan Raubenheimer of Durbanville, Cape Town, claimed the grand prize of a garden makeover to the value of R50,000, after entering his creation of ‘Boma in the pool’ into the competition.
Motivated by wanting a pool and a braai pit, Mr Raubenheimer built his ‘Boma in the pool’ after considering the need for a big pool.
“It was born out of frustration with a big pool because my wife and I are the only ones left in the house. It wasn’t feasible to keep a big pool going and I want a pool. So after thinking about it, we made the pool smaller and we turned the rest into a braai spot. It’s stunning sitting there,” says Mr Raubenheimer.
