We had an overwhelming response to the PPC Creative Cement competition that ran from 01 November 2009 to 28 February 2010. The PPC challenge to South Africans was to create decorative garden pieces and furniture out of cement has borne some exciting results with Robert George Howe of Limpopo becoming the R50 000 first prize winner in the PPC Creative Cement Competition. Robert built a contemporary outdoor entertainment area comprising seats and a fire-pit.
Robert George Howe, displayed innovative and creative use of cement that was also technically sound in its application, His creation will add additional value to his property and we trust that he will enjoy many years of pleasure from this attractive outdoor entertainment facility.
The winners of the ten building material voucher prizes worth R5,000 used cement to create attractive and value-adding pieces including seating, fountains and even a braai facility (see winning pieces below).
The rules of the competition stated that entrants had to build a 'creative garden masterpiece using PPC Cement', then upload 4 photographs of the finished project, with a PPC Cement bag in the same frame, on the PPC website (www.ppccreativecement.co.za) or the PPC mobisite (www.ppcsa.mobi) for the judges' perusal. Concrete must have been used as the main medium of the garden masterpiece. It may have been combined with any other media (i.e. wood, bronze, glass, electronics, etc) but concrete must have been the main media.
