Batsweledi (Dwaalboom)

The new 1 million tonne per annum Dwaalboom clinker production line was successfully commissioned at the end of September 2008. After a very successful production ramp up, the kiln was performance tested and handed over to the Dwaalboom Operations team in early December 2008. According to F L Smidth, the kiln and ancillary equipment supplier, this was one of the quickest commissioning, performance testing and handover activities that they have been involved in.

The project team is assisting Dwaalboom Operations with shutdown and guarantee issues and project close out is now underway. The construction village that was built to house the construction contractors is closed and the mothballing process is in progress.
