Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Producer Price Index (PPI) The annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) for November 2011 increased by 0.1 percentage points to 6.1% from 6.0% in October. The primary contributors to this increase was the increase in prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, transport as well as recreation and culture. The annual Producer Price Index (PPI) for November 2011 decreased by 0.5 percentage points to 10.1% year-on-year from 10.6% in October. This lower annual rate can be explained by the decrease in the annual rate of change in the PPI for mining and quarrying and electricity. |
|
Purchasing Managers Index (Kagiso) According to the Bureau of Economic Research (BER), the seasonally adjusted Kagiso PMI lost some ground in December 2011, falling by 2.2 index points to below the key 50 mark to 49.4.
